What is the Connection Between Hearing Loss and Omega 3?

By John Collins

Hearing loss is the name given to impairment of ears, whether it's permanent or temporary. Hearing loss and omega 3 are connected by the fact that this condition can be prevented by consuming essential fats in large amounts.

Omega 3 oil provides two of the most important fats known by the names DHA and EPA. They are also called essential fatty acids or omega 3 fatty acids. These fats are good for our health; in fact we need them to fight against various diseases including coronary heart disease and cancer.

Fish oil is the richest known source of these fats and because of this reason many people consume fish oil capsules on a regular basis. Doctors around the world have recognized the link between hearing loss and omega 3 and therefore they advise people who suffer from this condition to increase their intake of fish oil and other foods rich in these fats.

These fats are found in fish, seafood, tofu, soybeans, navy beans, walnuts, flax seeds and sesame seeds. Other vegetable oils also contain some content of these fats. However, these oils are not recommended to people who suffer from arthritis as they serve to increase and promote inflammation.

The best solution is to consume fish oil supplements which are easily available on market. These supplements are good for people of all ages as there are no side effects associated with their consumption. Even people who are allergic to fish can take these supplements without any hesitation. Enriched eggs are also available on the market now and they are as good as consuming fish twice a week.

If you want to cure or prevent hearing loss, then you should start consuming such fats regularly. Although it is not yet known how much fats we require on a daily basis depending on our overall health and age, it is a general agreement that we all should consume at least 300 mg of DHA and EPA combined on a daily basis.

This amount can be obtained by consuming fish oil capsules. You should be careful in buying your supplements because some low grade oils are also present out there. These products are not effective and they may cause side effects as well. Always buy pharmaceutical grade fish oil and make sure that it is molecularly distilled and free from all impurities and toxins.
